Ten injured in fire on ONGC offshore unit near Mumbai
MUMBAI, April 4 -- As many as ten personnel sustained injuries after a fire broke out at Oil and Natural Gas Commission (ONGC)'s South Heera Processing (SHP) unit at 5.45pm on Friday, officials said.
ONGC, India's largest state-owned crude oil and natural gas corporation, operates a key offshore platform about 150 nautical miles west of Mumbai. The blaze was quickly brought under control and the fire was extinguished, said an ONGC spokesperson.
"All the ten injured persons sustained minor injuries and are under medical care. They are all stable now. Operations at the unit have been normalised," the spokesperson said, adding that all the injured were rescued by a medevac helicopter and brought to Mumbai.
Sources in ONGC said that while seven of the injured have been discharged, three remain admitted to a Mumbai-based hospital....
