State economy expected to grow at 7.9% in FY 26
MUMBAI, March 6 -- Maharashtra's economic growth is expected to be 7.9% in 2025-26 against 7.3% in 2024-25, according to the 2025-26 Economic Survey presented in the state legislature by minister of state for finance Ashish Jaiswal. The agriculture sector has taken beating compared with the last FY, as its growth rate is expected to drop to 3.4% in 2025-26 from last year's 9.1%, while industry (from 4.3% to 5.7%) and services (from 8.3% to 9%) are expected to perform better in 2025-26.
While the state has shown growth between 2024-25 and 2025-26, it is more than that at the national trend, which is expected to be at 7.6%.
The tabling of the Economic Survey is a precursor to the state budget scheduled for March 6 as the Devendra Fadnavis-led Mahayuti government tries to balance its populist commitments with the goal of making Maharashtra a $1 trillion (roughly Rs.91 lakh crore as per current exchange rate) economy in nominal terms by 2030.
