Political aide killed; hunt on for assailants
Mumbai, Jan. 26 -- The Bhandup police are searching for a group of men who allegedly assaulted and killed a 32-year-old political worker, a close aide of Sajju Malik, a candidate in the recently held civic elections, on Sunday evening.
The victim has been identified as Shankar Prasad, also known as Kalli. The police said that Prasad, who had a criminal record involving offences such as assault, was intercepted by a group of eight to 10 men due to a prior enmity.
The assailants allegedly beat him and stabbed him with a knife before fleeing the spot, and Prasad succumbed to his injuries.
The police have registered a case of murder under Section 103 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and are trying to track down the accused.
"We have formed eight teams to trace and arrest the suspects," said a police officer from the Bhandup police station....
