India, Jan. 21 -- A 25-year-old PhD scholar at the Indian Institute of Technology Kanpur died after allegedly jumping from the sixth floor of a campus residential building on Tuesday afternoon, police said. The deceased, a research scholar, was originally from Churu district in Rajasthan and is survived by his wife and three-year-old daughter. Deputy commissioner of police (West) SM Qasim Abidi said preliminary investigation indicates that the student had been suffering from depression and anxiety for a prolonged period.
