Old-age pension plan extension approved
India, Jan. 22 -- The Union Cabinet on Wednesday approved continuation of old-age income security scheme Atal Pension Yojana (APY) up to 2030-31 with all required funding, and decided to infuse Rs.5,000 crore equity support in Small Industries Development Bank of India (SIDBI), which will benefit over 2.57 million additional small firms. Launched on May 9, 2015, APY is an old-age income security scheme for the unorganised sector with over 86.6 million subscriber base offering a guaranteed minimum pension of Rs.1,000 to Rs.5,000 per month starting at age 60, based on contributions, the finance ministry said.
