NMIA to operate 24x7 from today
MUMBAI, Feb. 1 -- The Navi Mumbai International Airport, which began operations from December 25, will become a 24-hour operational airport from Sunday. When it opened, it was operational for 12 hours, from 8 am to 8 pm.
As of now, there are no late-night flights scheduled, but the last one will be at 9.50 pm and first departure will be at 7.10. Sources in the aviation industry said that more flights would be added when summer schedules began. In April, the number of aircraft movements is likely to go up to 20 per hour as compared to ten now.
Earlier, on Tuesday, the state cabinet sanctioned a 35-kilometre extension of Metro Line 8 connecting Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport to NMIA. The airport was inaugurated last year by PM Narendra Modi....
