Mumbai, Feb. 6 -- Away from the buzz of the T20 World Cup that will grip the city over the weekend, a star-studded Ranji Trophy quarter-final between Mumbai and Karnataka will begin from Friday at the MCA-BKC ground. Both teams boast of multiple Test level players, although Mumbai are sweating on the fitness of Sarfaraz Khan, their star batter who is suffering from hamstring trouble as well as viral fever. Speaking to reporters on the eve of the match on Thursday, Mumbai captain Shardul Thakur said they are hopeful that Sarfaraz will take the field for the marquee clash. "Our team physio and doctors are in constant touch. Every two-three hours, they are checking on his health and we are hoping that he will play tomorrow," said Thakur. Mumbai, the 42-time champions who topped their group, have been bolstered by the return of their regular captain Shardul and India opener Yashasvi Jaiswal. Siddhesh Lad, who has taken charge of the team in the absence of Shardul, has been in prolific form this season and will look to carry it into the knockouts. Karnataka, the eight-time champions, however also boast of plenty of quality especially in their batting. That includes the likes of KL Rahul, Devdutt Padikkal and Mayank Agarwal, while the return of Karun Nair will only add to its strength. Karnataka also have pacer Prasidh Krishna who will look to exploit the morning nip on the BKC wicket. While Mumbai drew their last league match against Delhi at home, Karnataka come into this clash with momentum, having pulled off a thrilling five-wicket win over Punjab to seal a last-eight berth....
