Man dead after falling from bldg in Andheri
MUMBAI, Feb. 18 -- A 39-year-old man was found dead in Andheri East on Monday night after allegedly falling from a building, with police suspecting the incident to be an accidental fall.
The deceased, identified as Pankit Shah, a resident of Vile Parle West, had been reported missing by his family hours before his body was discovered.
At around 10.22pm on Monday, the Andheri police received a call saying that a person had jumped from the fourth floor of Chadda Premises at Hubtown Solars Limited in Andheri East.
On reaching the spot, officers found Shah lying within the building premises.
Shah had gone to visit a tours and travels office owned by a friend in the building.
According to police, preliminary investigations suggest that he may have accidentally fallen from a window while attempting to retrieve his debit card, which was found on a parapet slab between the third and fourth floors.
A woman who was sweeping the premises reportedly saw Shah near the window moments before the incident and did not notice anything suspicious.
Police said the fall took place seconds after she left the area.
Shah's body has been sent to Cooper Hospital for post-mortem to determine the exact cause of death.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (Zone 10) Datta Nalawade said an accidental death report has been registered.
"So far, no foul play is suspected. Further investigation is ongoing to find the actual cause," Nalawade said....
