Pune, Feb. 3 -- A 20-year-old law student from Navi Mumbai, who was reported missing after she came to Lonavala for a solo trip on January 31, was found dead 450 feet deep in the gorge at Tiger Point on Sunday. The victim was a 20-year-old resident of Belapur CBD. Police said she was a law student at a college in Kalyan. According to investigators, the student travelled from Duke's Nose to Tiger Point by autorickshaw. On Saturday, she was supposed to return home but was unreachable on phone. On Sunday, her family registered a missing persons case at Lonavala Rural police station. The same day, teams from the Lonavala Rural Police, the Shivdurga Rescue Team and a dog squad conducted a search operation. Around 5pm on Sunday her body was spotted in the gorge and sent it for post-mortem examination. Her backpack, containing her identity card, mobile phone and laptop, was found near a roadside kiosk, helping police establish her identity. Senior Police Inspector Dinesh Tayade said police are probing all possible angles. While police are probing the suicide angle as well, no note has been found. Her laptop and electronic devices are being examined for further clues....
