Mumbai, April 9 -- A fire broke out in a high-rise at Royal Palms Estate in Goregaon East on Wednesday evening, briefly trapping residents before the Mumbai Fire Brigade safely rescued them. According to the fire brigade, the blaze was reported at 7:43 pm and was later classified as a Level I fire at 8:09 pm. The fire was confined to the 9th and 10th floors of Emerald No. 1, a ground-plus-25-storey building on Aarey Road. Fire brigade teams, along with police, power utility personnel and ambulance services, rushed to the spot. The fire was confined to electric wiring and installations, wooden furniture, stock of scrapped materials, steel rods, PVC pipes, insulating materials, office records and files in flat No. 803, and to a wooden door, frames and scrapped materials in flat No. 804. Five people were rescued safely from the building staircase, while 10 men, eight women, three children and one dog were found safe in the refuge area on the 15th floor of the building.
