ED searches Sena (UBT) leader's nagpur property
MUMBAI, Jan. 10 -- The Enforcement Directorate (ED) on Friday conducted searches at 15 premises in Maharashtra and Madhya Pradesh, including in Nagpur, as part of its money-laundering investigation related to the activities of illegal sand mining networks. The premises of a Shiv Sena (UBT) leader in Nagpur were among the premises allegedly searched by the agency's team.
The agency's Mumbai unit carried out searches at 10 premises in Nagpur, including the one belonging to a district functionary of the Shiv Sena (UBT), agency sources told HT. Two other premises belonging to individuals under the ED probe's scanner were searched in Bhandara district of Maharashtra.
A premise each was searched by the ED in Madhya Pradesh's three districts, Bhopal, Hoshangabad and Betul. The searches continued till Friday night.
The probe is based on the Nagpur police's case against an illegal sand mining network of 2021- 22, whose activities allegedly caused huge loss to the state exchequer, sources said. The sand mining network's illegal activities were allegedly centred around a few sand banks, the sources said....
