Dhakshineswar rescues India on first day
Mumbai, Feb. 8 -- Dhakshineswar Suresh ensured India took a point from the first day of their Davis Cup qualifier against the Netherlands with a 6-4, 7-5 upset win over world No.88 Jesper De Jong in Bengaluru on Saturday.
India lost the opening rubber of the tie after the country's top singles player Sumit Nagal was handed a 6-0, 4-6, 6-3 defeat by Guy Den Ouden.
N Sriram Balaji and Yuki Bhambri will pair up for the doubles match on Sunday, followed by the reverse singles fixtures.
Last year's runner-up Manachaya Sawangkaew from Thailand beat compatriot Lanlana Tararudee 6-2, 3-6, 6-1 to reach the final of the WTA 125 L&T Mumbai Open, at the MLSTA courts on Saturday.
