Alam takes fifer as CCI clinch SPG T20 title
Mumbai, April 19 -- Badre Alam's 5/35 helped the Cricket Club of India beat Islam Gymkhana by 31 runs in the final of the SPG T20 Tournament on Saturday.
CCI's Akhil Herwadkar and Akash Anand were adjudged the best batter and player of the tournament awards, respectively, while Alam was the player of the final.
Islam Gym's Vinayak Bhoir was named the tournament's best bowler.
Batting first, CCI reached a total of 197/7 in 20 overs before bowling out the opposition for 166 in 18.4 overs.
Brief scores: CCI 197/7 (Dhrumil Matkar 47, Akash Anand 47, Akhil Herwadkar 39) beat Islam Gym 166 (Vinayak Bhoir 41, Bhuvan Patil 35; Barde Alam 5/35, Irfan Umair 3/32).
Independent beat Hockey Mira Road 4-2 in the men's senior division semi-final of the 45th Wellingdon Catholic Gym Rink Hockey Tournament in Santa Cruz on Saturday
In the other semi-final, Savio Hockey beat United Bandra 3-1.
In the women's elite section, Steel Authority of India edged past Republicans Orange 2-1 in the first semi-final, while Central Railway beat Western Railway 2-1 in the second semi-final....
