656 tigers dead in 7 years; poaching, accidents, human conflict to blame
Mumbai, May 7 -- Between 2012 and 2018, 656 tigers died in the country, according to the National Tiger Conservation Authority (NTCA). Most of the tiger deaths were reported in Madhya Pradesh, followed by Maharashtra. Recently-released data from NTCA suggests that while poaching for trade has come down in this period, tiger deaths due to electrocution (also categorised as poaching) are rising....
