PUNE, March 18 -- Fifty question papers of the Secondary School Certificate (SSC) or class 10 geography examination scheduled for today were allegedly stolen from the strong room at a school in Sangola town of Solapur district. The theft came to light on Tuesday morning when education department officials, along with the custodian, visited the strong room at Sangola Vidya Mandir to dispatch the previous day's examination papers. At 8.30 am, they found the lock of the strong room broken. While the strong room is meant for secure storage of SSC exam papers, preliminary investigation indicates that two packets containing around 50 Class 10 geography papers were missing. Audumbar Ukirde, chairman of the Pune Divisional Board, said, "It is a serious lapse that the strong room did not have CCTV surveillance. However, footage from a nearby shop has helped us identify a student allegedly carrying the papers. The centre's head along with the block education officer have been suspended for negligence." The board has clarified that the exam will be held as scheduled today.P5...
