'TN looking at NDA with hope for change'
CHENNAI, April 14 -- The people of Tamil Nadu are looking at the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) with hope for a change and are ready to punish the ruling Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) for its misgovernance, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said on Monday and commended the party's state unit cadre for its hard work during the campaign for the April 23 elections.
During a virtual interaction with booth-level Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) workers of the Tamil Nadu unit, as part of the "Mera Booth Sabse Mazboot" programme, he said, "People are looking at the BJP-NDA with hopes for a change."
He further accused that the DMK-led Tamil Nadu government of making "corruption part of the system".
"Corruption, commission and collection are becoming the identity of the government. The people of Tamil Nadu are looking at the NDA alliance with hope for a change and are ready to punish the ruling DMK for its misgovernance," he said.
He added: "The DMK government has made corruption a part of the system in Tamil Nadu. Every department is involved in irregularities."
Modi noted that the NDA government is working at a fast pace while bringing major projects for railways, highways, and airports.
He said he was immensely proud to know that the BJP workers in Tamil Nadu have exposed the DMK's poor governance and extensively elaborated on the NDA's visionary perspective for the state's development. He maintained that the welfare of farmers was the NDA government's priority.
"Significant transformation has come in the healthcare sector. In Tamil Nadu, 11 new medical colleges have been built and in a decade, the number of medical seats has doubled," he said.
Taking a dig at the DMK government, he said between 2004 and 2014 when the DMK was in an alliance with the central government, no new development was introduced in Tamil Nadu.
Modi advised BJP workers to focus on small and targeted group meetings, engaging the first-time voters, women, farmers and senior citizens through booth-level events....
