Zero tolerance on disorder during festivals, says Adityanath
LUCKNOW, March 19 -- Chief minister Yogi Adityanath on Wednesday directed officials to ensure strict law and order during the upcoming festive period, warning that any attempt to disturb communal harmony will be dealt with firmly.
At a high-level review meeting held via video conferencing, the CM said special arrangements must be made for Chaitra Navratri beginning Thursday, Alvida prayers on March 20 and Eid-ul-Fitr on March 21. He stressed that peace, security and discipline must be maintained, with no room for negligence.
Yogi said religious events should follow traditional practices and no new customs should be allowed. He noted that even minor incidents could escalate tensions and must be handled promptly. He ordered intensified policing, including increased patrolling by PRV-112 units, and required visible police presence on the ground. Crowd management and civic facilities at temples-such as sanitation, drinking water, lighting and health services-were also reviewed.
Officials were told to enforce noise norms at religious places and act against bike stunts. The CM also directed monitoring of LPG supply to prevent hoarding and black-marketing. Instructions were issued for proper upkeep of cow shelters and preparations for the President's proposed visit to Ayodhya and Mathura-Vrindavan.
