VARANASI, March 29 -- A three-day 'Tarun Sabha-Youth Parliament' was inaugurated at DAV PG College to familiarise students with the country's parliamentary system and help develop their communication, logical reasoning and leadership skills. The event is being organised by the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) in collaboration with the ministry of parliamentary affairs, Uttar Pradesh government, an office-bearer from ABVP's national media team said. Following the inauguration, an oath-taking ceremony for students assigned various roles in the Youth Parliament was held on the opening day. Dharmendra Singh, Member of the Legislative Council (MLC), UP, attended the ceremony as the chief guest. Addressing the students, Singh said, "Events like Tarun Sabha provide an opportunity for youth to understand the basic functioning of democracy. They should not remain mere spectators but actively participate in nation-building as aware citizens.
