LUCKNOW, Feb. 17 -- A 21-year-old man, currently out on bail in previous crimes, was arrested in Kakori late on Sunday night for allegedly making a false emergency call. He reportedly claimed unidentified bikers had fired at his SUV, in an attempt to frame his rivals, police said on Monday. They said, Shivji, alias Shiva Yadav, called Dial 112 around 11.30 pm on February 15, reporting that two motorcycle-borne youths had fired at his Tata Safari and fled. However, when police arrived at the scene, he claimed that four men on two bikes were involved. "However, a thorough search of the area found no empty cartridges, bullet marks, or dents on the vehicle. Labourers camping just 20 metres from the alleged spot told police they had heard no gunshots," police added. On verification, police found the caller has previous cases registered against him under the IPC, BNS and Pocso provisions. Officers said he allegedly fabricated the firing incident to create public unrest and frame his rivals in a criminal case. He was arrested under relevant provisions of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS).
