Woman dies in LPG cylinder blast
PRAYAGRAJ, May 10 -- A 32-year-old woman was killed after a cooking gas cylinder exploded inside her one-room house in Pratapgarh district on Saturday morning. The powerful blast triggered a massive fire, damaging the roof and walls of the house and causing panic in the area, police said.
According to police, the incident occurred in Pure Gadariyan Ka Purwa under Hathigwan police station limits. The deceased was identified as Renu Pal, wife of local vegetable trader, Raju Pal.
Officials said Renu ran a small grocery shop from the same room where the family cooked and lived. On Saturday morning, her husband had gone to the market for work while Renu began cooking on a gas stove around 10.30 am. At the time of the incident, her two children - seven-year-old Harshit Pal and five-year-old Gudia Pal - were playing outside the house.
During cooking, the gas cylinder suddenly exploded, and flames engulfed the room within moments. As the iron door of the room was closed, Renu was unable to escape and got trapped inside the burning house. She died in the fire.
The explosion was so intense that it cracked the roof and walls of the house. The fire also spread to dry straw stored near a neem tree outside the house, causing the tree to catch fire.
After receiving information about the incident, SHO Satyendra Singh, along with a police team and fire brigade personnel, rushed to the spot. Firefighters managed to bring the blaze under control after hours of effort. The room had become extremely hot, making rescue operations difficult. Locals and rescue personnel later entered the room and recovered Renu's charred body.
The body has been sent for a post-mortem examination after completion of legal formalities, the SHO said.
Inspector Ayodhya Prasad Yadav and constable Pawan Kumar sustained burn injuries during the firefighting operation....
