Ferozepur, May 14 -- A 50-year-old woman died from injuries sustained during a drone strike in Ferozepur district of Punjab in the first such case of casualties in a drone attack, officials said on Tuesday. The deceased, identified as Sukhwinder Kaur, suffered severe burn injuries during a drone attack launched by Pakistan near her residence in Khai Pheme Ki village of the border district on May 9 officials said, adding that she died during treatment at Dayanand Medical College and Hospital (DMCH) in Ludhiana on Monday night. Ferozepur deputy commissioner of police (DCP) Deepshikha Sharma said the incident took place at around 9pm when the debris of a drone intercepted by India's Air Defence system hit a car, sparking a fire that injured Sukhwinder, her husband Lakhwinder Singh (55) and their son Jaswant Singh alias (Monu). According to Sharma, Sukhwinder sustained 100% burns, while her husband Lakhwinder, who sustained 70% burns is critical and currently undergoing treatment at DMCH....
