PRAYAGRAJ, Jan. 14 -- A woman was killed after being struck by a car while sitting near a bonfire outside her home in Birapur village under the Fattanpur police station area of Pratapgarh district on Tuesday morning. According to the police, the victim, Chandadevi, 55, wife of Mangilal Prajapati, was sitting by a bonfire near the interlocking pavement outside her home at approximately 7:30 am when a car driven by a local villager, en route to his general store, lost balance at a turn and hit her. The driver fled the scene immediately after the incident. Chandadevi was rushed to the medical college hospital by her family but was declared dead on arrival by doctors. The police have seized the vehicle and taken the body into custody for a postmortem examination. The deceased's husband has lodged a formal complaint against the car driver, Anuj Mishra, at the Fattanpur police station. The case is currently under investigation, said SHO Manish Tripathi. htc...
