Woman, aide booked for assaulting power staff; video goes viral
LUCKNOW, Feb. 20 -- A woman and an unidentified accomplice were booked for allegedly assaulting and threatening employees at a power substation in the Vikas Nagar here on Wednesday afternoon.
Frustrated by power cuts and unhappy with the conversation she had over the phone with a power substation employee, she reached the power station and allegedly slapped one of the employees after a verbal spat.
The video of the incident has gone viral on social media where the woman and a man beside her can be seen thrashing the employee after the latter tried to capture the incident on a phone.
Vikas Nagar police registered an FIR late at night booking the woman identified as Nidhi Verma, a resident of Sector 14 and an unidentified man under sections 115 (2), 121 (1), 132, 324 (3), 352, and 351 (3) of Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), 2023.
According to the FIR, the incident took place at the 33/11 KV electricity substation in Sector 14. The complaint was filed by Suraj Kumar Mishra, an assistant engineer at the substation.
"The woman had earlier called the substation control room around 2.10 pm regarding a power-related issue. During the conversation, the operator requested details of her connection number as power disconnection work was underway in the area over pending dues," read the FIR. HTC...
