kOLKATA, March 21 -- A man died after getting trapped inside an elevator at the state-run RG Kar Medical College and Hospital in Kolkata on Friday, with his family alleging gross negligence on the part of the hospital authorities. The victim, Arup Banerjee (40), a resident of Dum Dum area, had gone to the hospital for the treatment of his son, who had suffered a fracture and was scheduled to undergo surgery. "According to the complaint we have received, the man got trapped inside the elevator. Allegations have surfaced that there was no liftman. The victim was rescued after 45 minutes. According to the complaint, he was bleeding through his mouth and nose. We have sent the body for the autopsy to ascertain the cause of death," said Saptarshi Chattopadhyay, vice principal of the hospital.P4...
