New Delhi, Feb. 20 -- Vice-President CP Radhakrishnan on Thursday launched Congress MP Shashi Tharoor's new book at an event, where the national song, Vande Mataram, was played twice along with the national anthem, following the recent Union government's guidelines. The event in the national capital commenced with the playing of extended, six-stanza version of the national song, followed by the national anthem. The sequence was repeated after the Vice President's address towards the end of the event. Tharoor's office told HT that the national song and anthem were played as "per the government's guidelines". Earlier this month, the Centre made the singing or playing of all six stanzas of "Vande Mataram" mandatory before the national anthem at all official state functions. The book, "The Sage who Reimagined Hinduism: The Life, Lessons and Legacy of Sree Narayana Guru," has been published by Aleph Book Company. Speaking at the event Radhakrishnan commended Tharoor's work for expanding India's heritage in the world. "If we do not document our spiritual and social reformers with depth and scholarship, we risk losing a vital part of our civilisation's memory," he said. The vice-president also praised Tharoor for leading India's delegation during Operation Sindoor, calling him a "true citizen of the country"....
