Votes cast in 18 districts in UP Bar Council polls
PRAYAGRAJ, Jan. 31 -- Voting in the fourth phase of the Uttar Pradesh Bar Council polls began on Friday across 18 districts, including Prayagraj, for the election of 25 members. Polling was held from 9 am to 5 pm and remained peaceful, with lawyers turning out in large numbers.
In Prayagraj, voting was conducted at the Bar Council building, where enthusiasm was evident among candidates, their supporters and voters.
Polling began on time, with a steady stream of lawyers arriving since the beginning.
The turnout picked up further as the day progressed, with a notable rush during the lunch break between 1 pm and 2 pm.
Justices Arvind Kumar Tripathi and Surendra Singh visited the polling booths during the day to monitor the voting process.Candidates had set up large pandals along roads around the Bar Council building, arranging voter slips, seating and refreshments for lawyers coming to vote.
Supporters of various candidates were seen campaigning actively along the stretch from Sai Baba Temple Chowk to AGUP Chowk, raising slogans and appealing for votes. Some also used small loudspeakers to boost voters' enthusiasm.
Polling-related activities led to traffic congestion on nearby roads throughout the day.
Polling concluded at 5 pm and will resume at 10 am on Saturday. In Prayagraj, voting will continue until February 2....
