UPSRTC raises bus fares on select routes after toll hike
LUCKNOW, April 8 -- Bus travel in state-run services has become slightly costlier, as the Uttar Pradesh State Road Transport Corporation (UPSRTC) has revised fares on select routes following a recent hike in toll tax rates.
Regional manager, UPSRTC (Lucknow region) Amarnath Sahay said the revision was necessitated due to increased toll charges.
"The new fare structure has already been implemented. Passengers on affected routes will have to pay a nominal increase ranging from Rs.1 to Rs.6," he said. The fare revision, effective from April 1, applies only to routes where buses pass through toll plazas.
Among major routes, the Alambagh-Prayagraj fare has seen the steepest hike, increasing from Rs.302 to Rs.308. Similarly, the fare on the Alambagh-Varanasi route has been raised from Rs.473 to Rs.476.
From the Kaisarbagh depot, fares have also been revised across multiple routes. The ticket price for Bahraich has been increased by Rs.1, from Rs.192 to Rs.193, while passengers travelling to Gorakhpur will now pay Rs.437 instead of Rs.435.
