LUCKNOW, Dec. 30 -- The Uttar Pradesh Congress Committee chief Ajay Rai on Monday announced party observers for 11 seats where MLC polls are scheduled to be held next year. Addressing a press conference at the party office here, he said: "Senior Congress leaders have been made observers for the elections to be held in 2026 for a total of 11 graduate/teacher legislative council seats in Uttar Pradesh." UPCC media cell vice chairman Manish Hindavi said senior Congress leader Kishori Lal Sharma, also an MP, and party's former MP PL Punia have been observers for the Lucknow seat, while former MLAs Bhagwati Prasad Chaudhary and Pashupati Nath Rai have been made observers for Varanasi seat. Rakesh Rathore, MP, and former MLC Vivek Bansal have been assigned the task for the Agra seat. Imran Masood, MP, and former MLC Harendra Agarwal have been made observers for the Meerut seat, while Ujjwal Raman Singh, MP, and former minister Naseemuddin Siddiqui will shoulder the responsibility of the Allahabad seat. Former MP Kunwar Danish Ali and former MLA Phool Kunwar have been given the responsibility for the Bareilly-Moradabad Teacher seat, while Tanuj Punia, MP, and former MLA Akhilesh Pratap Singh have been made observers for the Gorakhpur-Faizabad teacher seat.
