Lucknow, Oct. 18 -- Uttar Pradesh has secured the first position nationwide in registrations for the India Skills Competition 2026, the national leg of the World Skills Competition to be held in China next year. The registration process across 63 skill categories concluded on October 15. Under the leadership of Mission Director Pulkit Khare, the Uttar Pradesh Skill Development Mission achieved a record 1,09,249 registrations-nearly 14 times higher than the 8,000 recorded in 2023. Andhra Pradesh (58,009), Tamil Nadu (54,409), and Karnataka (31,113) followed in the second, third, and fourth spots, respectively.Districts such as Jaunpur (5,075), Farrukhabad (4,315), and Bulandshahr (2,975) led state participation, with top-performing districts to be awarded certificates. Skill development minister Kapil Dev Agarwal said the achievement reflects UP's growing skill capacity.
