Lucknow, Jan. 4 -- The Uttar Pradesh secondary education department will organise a book exhibition in Lucknow later this month. The aim is to help government libraries and educational institutions choose quality and updated books. The exhibition is being organised by the library cell of the secondary education department. It is part of an ongoing process to improve book selection for state-run schools and libraries. According to an official order issued by additional chief secretary Partha Sarthi Sen Sharma, reputed publishers will display sample books at one venue. The books will cover literature, science, arts, competitive examinations and general knowledge. The exhibition will be held at the Book Distribution Centre, State Library Support Unit (SLSU) Building, Education Complex, Jagat Narain Road, Lucknow. It will run from January 22 to January 30, 2026. Sundays and government holidays are excluded. The timing will be from 10 am to 4 pm. Departments have been asked to nominate book selection committees or officers. They will inspect the books on site and prepare lists based on their needs. The sample books cannot be taken outside the venue. Departments willing to take part have been asked to confirm their participation by email so that arrangements can be made.The state government will also organise a Reading Campaign on February 3, 2026.
