UP power union warns of agitation over smart meter
LUCKNOW, Feb. 23 -- The Vidyut Karamchari Sanyukt Sangharsh Samiti, Uttar Pradesh, has strongly objected to what it described as the "forced installation" of smart electricity meters in the residential quarters of power corporation employees, cautioning that it will launch statewide protests if the installations are not stopped immediately.
During a meeting of its central office-bearers, the Samiti alleged that smart meters had been installed in employees' residences without their consent and warned that if the installation is not halted and dialogue is not initiated, a decision to launch an agitation will be taken at a meeting of its central office-bearers in Lucknow on February 26. htc...
