PRAYAGRAJ, Feb. 22 -- The University Grants Commission (UGC), New Delhi, has extended the autonomous status of Ewing Christian College (ECC), a constituent college of Allahabad University (AU), for another five years-from the academic session 2024-2025 academic session through 2028-2029. The approval letter, sent to the Registrar of Allahabad University, was received by the college on February 20, 2026, officials said. Acting principal of Ewing Christian College Prof AS Moses said that the process for extending the autonomous status of the college began in 2018 and was completed after multiple stages of inspections, evaluations, and official correspondence. He added that the University Grants Commission has also granted ex-post facto (retrospective) approval for the period from 2013-2014 to 2023-2024.
