two people held in connection with bhiwadi factory blast
Alwar, Feb. 19 -- Two people were arrested on Wednesday in connection with the Bhiwadi factory blast that killed seven workers earlier this week, police said.
The accused, warehouse owner Hemant Kumar Sharma and factory manager Abhinandan Tiwari, were allegedly running illegal firecracker manufacturing units in the Khushkhera industrial area, said Khairthal additional superintendent of police Atul Sahu.
Investigators said that the factory where the blast occurred on Monday, another factory traced on Tuesday, and a nearby warehouse were all been leased to Hemant Kumar Sharma.
During searches, police recovered machinery, empty raw materials and firecracker-making equipment from the factory, while a large consignment of finished illegal firecrackers was seized from the adjacent warehouse, said the ASP.
Investigators said that further investigation led police to uncover another illegal firecracker factory and warehouse located about 500 metres from the original blast site.
This unit was equipped with firecracker-making machinery, and a substantial quantity of materials was seized, they added.
Police said the investigation was ongoing and more arrests were likely as investigators sought to widen the probe into the illegal firecracker manufacturing network operating in the region....
