two minors run over by Speeding ambulance in Prayagraj
PRAYAGRAJ, Jan. 25 -- Two minor students were killed when a speeding ambulance hit them while they were standing with their bicycles by the roadside in the Ghoorpur police station area of Prayagraj on Saturday afternoon. One of the boys died on the spot, while the other succumbed to his injuries while being taken to the hospital.
According to reports, the accident took place near Kanti village, where Rinku Patel (15), a high school student, and his neighbour Shobhit Patel (13), a Class 6 student, were standing near a shop along the highway, barely 100 metres from their homes. A speeding ambulance coming from the Rewa side lost control, ran over the boys, and then rammed into a tractor-trolley parked on the roadside.
Rinku was trapped inside the ambulance after the collision. Villagers rushed to the spot, pulled him out, and took both boys to the Jasra CHC, where doctors declared Rinku dead on arrival. Shobhit, who was critically injured, was referred to Swaroop Rani Nehru Hospital (SRNH), however, he died on the way.
The incident triggered outrage in the village, with angry residents assaulting the ambulance driver and the accompanying technician. Both were later admitted to a hospital for treatment. Villagers alleged that the two were intoxicated at the time of the accident....
