Two held for stealing signboards
Meerut, Feb. 5 -- The Muzaffarnagar police have busted a gang involved in stealing signboards and iron sheets from the National Highway and arrested two notorious thieves in the case. The accused were also stealing directional signages meant to guide drivers. Both the accused are residents of Shamli district and had been carrying out these thefts for several months. The arrested men have been identified as Ali and Akram, residents of the Karna area of Shamli district. According to police, the accused used gas cutters to cut and remove iron signboards, pipes, and iron sheets installed on highway dividers.
The stolen boards were then sold to scrap dealers. SP (rural) Aditya Bansal said that the police had been receiving continuous complaints regarding theft of government property from the National Highway. htc...
