Meerut, Feb. 19 -- Two teenage students lost their lives and two others were seriously injured after a motorcycle carrying three Class 10 examinees collided head-on with a speeding pickup near Kandola culvert on the Dhaulana-Pilkhuwa Road in Hapur district on Wednesday afternoon, police said. According to officials, the victims had just finished their Hindi examination and were returning home when the accident occurred around 12:15 pm near Kandola village culvert. The injured were rushed by police to CHC Dhaulana, where doctors declared Zubair (17), a resident of a lane opposite Hanuman Murti locality in Dhaulana, dead. The other two students - Riyan (17), a resident of Air Force Enclave Colony in Dhaulana town, and Ayan (17) of Kapoorpur village - were referred to Meerut due to critical injuries. Ayan died on the way to the hospital, while Riyan remains under treatment. The pickup driver, Kunwarpal of Jogipura village under Hapur Nagar police station limits, is also being treated at CHC Dhaulana. Police said Zubair, Riyan and Ayan had travelled Wednesday morning on a motorcycle to appear for their Hindi paper at Rajputana Inter College. All three were students of Class 10 at Shri Patel Smarak Inter College and were heading home after the exam when the speeding pickup coming from the opposite direction rammed into their bike. Station House Officer Avneesh Sharma reached the scene with a police team upon receiving information and ensured the injured were transported by ambulance. Police have seized both the damaged motorcycle and the pickup and initiated an investigation into the crash. Circle Officer Anita Chauhan said no formal complaint has yet been received.
