KANPUR, Feb. 19 -- Two siblings died on Tuesday night after falling into an uncovered septic tank in Badanpur village under the Radhanagar police area of Fatehpur district, police said. The victims, Shivanshi ,7, and Shatrughan ,6, daughter and son of Rakesh Sharma, had gone to fetch water from a neighbour's house when the incident occurred. According to villagers, the septic tank had been left open for cleaning near the neighbour's premises. While filling water, the children moved towards the tank and fell into it. By the time they were noticed, both had drowned. Local residents pulled the children out and informed the police. Station house officer of Radhanagar police station, Vinod Maurya, said the bodies were sent for post-mortem examination after police reached the spot late at night. "No written complaint has been received so far. Further inquiry is underway," he said....
