Two bhangra dhol players killed in suspected hit-and-run in city
LUCKNOW, Feb. 16 -- Two young men were killed in a suspected hit-and-run incident in Lucknow's Gosaiganj area on Saturday night after their motorcycle was struck by an unidentified vehicle and they were subsequently run over by another vehicle, police said on Sunday.
The accident occurred around 10 pm near Nawab Ali Purwa village.
According to police, Reshu, 22, and Manoj, 21, residents of Koriyani village, were heading towards Khurdahi on a motorcycle when a vehicle approaching from the opposite direction hit them.
The impact threw both riders onto the road. Moments later, another unidentified vehicle coming from behind allegedly ran them over.
Manoj died on the spot, while Reshu was rushed to a community health centre, where he succumbed to his injuries during treatment.
Police said both victims worked as bhangra dhol players and were on their way to perform at a party when the accident occurred.
Upon receiving information, local police reached the scene and took the bodies into custody. The bodies have been sent for the post-mortem examination, and an investigation has been initiated to identify the vehicles involved, officials said.
Efforts are underway to scan closed-circuit television (CCTV) footage from nearby areas to trace the drivers responsible, police added....
