Three held for firing at student leader's residence in Gkp, none injured
GORAKHPUR, Feb. 22 -- Panic gripped the Alinagar locality under Kotwali police station limits after unidentified assailants opened fire outside the residence of Samajwadi Chhatra Sabha leader Ujjawal Yadav late Friday night. Police have arrested three youths, including the main accused Arthak Pratap Singh, in connection with the incident.
According to police officials, the attackers arrived on motorcycles around midnight and fired approximately eight rounds, causing alarm among residents. No injuries were reported.
Circle officer (Kotwali) Omkar Dutt said that police teams rushed to the spot immediately after receiving information. "Eight empty cartridges were recovered from the scene, and CCTV footage from the area has been examined. All three accused have been taken into custody and are being questioned. Strict legal action will be taken based on the evidence," he said.
Preliminary investigation indicates that the attack stemmed from a personal dispute allegedly involving both Ujjawal Yadav and the main accused being in contact with the same girl.
