three ARTOs suspended for corruption after STF probe
LUCKNOW, Jan. 3 -- The Uttar Pradesh government has suspended three assistant regional transport officers (enforcement) following their alleged involvement in corruption, officials said on Thursday. Acting on the directions of minister of state (Independent charge) for transport Dayashankar Singh, the department placed Rajiv Kumar Bansal (Lucknow), Ambuj (Rae Bareli) and Pushpanjali Mitra Gautam (Fatehpur) under suspension as part of disciplinary proceedings.
The minister said the action reflected the state government's zero-tolerance policy against corruption, adding that misconduct by any officer or employee would not be tolerated at any level. According to officials FIRs have been registered against the officers at Lalganj police station in Rae Bareli by the STF under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, 2023, the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988, and the Motor Vehicles Act, 1988 .The STF action reportedly exposed serious misconduct, dereliction of duty and loss to government revenue. The inquiry against Ambuj and Pushpanjali Mitra Gautam has been entrusted to deputy transport commissioner Mayank Jyoti, while the probe against Rajiv Kumar Bansal will be conducted by deputy transport commissioner KD Singh.htc...
