LUCKNOW, Feb. 20 -- Three senior Indian Police Service (IPS) officers of the 1994 regular recruit (RR) batch are set to be promoted from additional director general (ADG) to director general (DG) by the end of February, official sources confirmed. The officers slated for elevation are ADG (Railways) Prakash D, ADG (rules and manuals) LV Antony Dev Kumar, and ADG (power corporation) Jai Narayan Singh. Their promotion comes against the backdrop of three DG-rank officers retiring this month, creating vacancies at the top level of the police hierarchy. Two of the retiring officers belong to the 1990 RR batch - DG (human rights commission) Sandeep Salunke and DG (home guards) Manmohan Kr Bashal - while the third, DG (prosecution) Dipesh Juneja, is from the 1992 RR batch. All three are retiring at the end of February. With the elevation of the three officers, all IPS officers of the 1994 batch currently serving in the state cadre - except Akhil Kumar and Raja Srivastava, who are on central deputation - will attain the DG rank. The promotions are part of routine, seniority-based IPS cadre progression and are likely to be notified before month-end. The move coincides with the February retirement of six senior IPS officers, including DG-rank officials. A farewell is scheduled at state police headquarters on February 27.
