Technical fault halts Tripura Sundari Express at Prayagraj
PRAYAGRAJ, Jan. 11 -- The Tripura Sundari Express faced a technical problem after a spring in its A-2 coach broke, causing strong jerks and unusual noise during the journey. The incident left passengers worried. The train, running from Agartala to Firozpur Cantonment, reached Prayagraj Junction after travelling about 1,843 kilometres. Railway officials removed the faulty coach and attached a new one. The train remained halted at the station for around 90 minutes.
Train number 14619 left Agartala on January 8 at 5 pm, later than its scheduled time of 3.20 pm. Soon after departure, passengers in the A-2 coach reported the problem. Railway staff checked the coach at Barauni station, but could not replace it due to the non-availability of a spare coach.
A similar inspection was done at DDU Junction, where the issue also remained unresolved. Technical staff then travelled with the coach to ensure safety, and the train was run at a reduced speed. Because of the fault, the train reached Prayagraj Junction at 1.33 pm on January 10, about nine hours late.
Under the supervision of station officials, 48 passengers from the A-2 coach were shifted to another coach. Their luggage was also transferred. After attaching a replacement coach, the train left Prayagraj for Firozpur Cantonment at 2.51 pm. Divisional public relations officer Amit Kumar Singh said the train was allowed to proceed only after ensuring passenger safety....
