Gorakhpur, Feb. 21 -- Authorities have taken action following the death of a minor boy, Kanhaiya Chaurasiya, who fell into an uncovered drainage trench in Rapti Nagar Extension Colony near Manbela Ward No. 5 on Thursday. On Friday, divisional commissioner Anil Dhingra dismissed a supervisor from service and recommended suspension of the concerned junior engineer, fixing prima facie responsibility. An inquiry committee led by the additional district magistrate (City) and the chief engineer has been formed to submit a detailed report at the earliest. Officials said government assistance is being extended to the bereaved family. According to officials, underground trenches were constructed on both sides of the 24-metre-wide road under the housing scheme. Though the trench had been covered with RCC slabs, these were allegedly removed by miscreants, leading to the accident. The divisional commissioner said the matter is under investigation....
