Student booked for assault on lady teacher
AGRA, Feb. 6 -- Mainpuri police have registered a case against a Class 12 student for allegedly physically assaulting a teacher, who had earlier left the school following alleged harassment by him, and injuring her lips with a sharp object, police said. The accused, a minor, is yet to be arrested, while the police are in the process of recording the victim's statement in court.
Fateh Bahadur Bhadauria, Kotwali police station in-charge, said the case was registered on February 1 for an incident that allegedly took place on January 20. A video related to the incident went viral on social media on Wednesday.
According to police, the accused is a 16-year-old student of Class 12, while the victim teacher is 26 years old.
The complaint was lodged by the teacher's brother at Kotwali police station in Mainpuri.
"We are in the process of getting the victim teacher's statement recorded in court and completing other legal formalities against the minor accused," Bhadauria said on Thursday.
An FIR has been registered under sections 74 (assault or criminal force against a woman to outrage her modesty), 118(2) (causing hurt by a dangerous weapon), 351(3) (criminal intimidation) and 296 (obscene acts) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita.
As per the FIR, the teacher was allegedly harassed by the student during her tenure at the school despite the issue being raised with the student's mother during a parent-teacher meeting.
It alleges that the student used to block the teacher's path while she was returning home. Due to the alleged harassment, the teacher reportedly quit her job and joined another school in Mainpuri.
The FIR further states that the accused allegedly continued to harass the teacher, blocking her way and making indecent proposals.
On January 20, the accused allegedly stopped the teacher while she was heading for tuition at a student's house and allegedly assaulted her, injuring her lips with a sharp object before fleeing. The injured teacher was first taken to Safai Medical College in Etawah and later referred to Agra for treatment....
