STF arrests man involved in fake arms licenses racket in Dehradun
Dehradun, Jan. 17 -- The special task force (STF) of state police has arrested a member of a gang allegedly involved in creating fake arms licences and recovered one forged licence, an illegal semi-automatic .30 bore pistol, and five live cartridges from his possession, an officer said on Friday.
The accused was identified as Manoj Singh, a native of Shamli district in Uttar Pradesh, who was currently residing in Premnagar area of Dehradun.
Senior superintendent of police (STF) Navneet Singh Bhullar said the accused was arrested late Thursday night with the illegal weapon and ammunition.

"Following the tip-off, a special team was constituted to investigate the matter," he said.
He said the team coordinated with district magistrate offices in Dehradun, Meerut and Sirsa, among other places, to verify licence records. "During the investigation, it was found that arms licence number 3805, which was shown as transferred from Meerut district, was entered in the arms register of the Dehradun district magistrate's office in 2020," he said.
"Further verification revealed that the same licence had earlier been transferred to Meerut from Sirsa district. However, inquiries with the Sirsa district magistrate's office confirmed that no such arms licence had ever been issued there," he said.
"Based on this information, the team arrested the accused (license holder) from Premnagar," Bhullar said....
