LUCKNOW, Jan. 3 -- A new state-of-the-art cardiac catheterization laboratory (Cath Lab) was inaugurated by deputy chief minister, Brajesh Pathak at Ram Manohar Lohia Institute of Medical Sciences (RMLIMS) on Friday. Speaking on the occasion the deputy CM said that the UP government is fully committed to strengthening advanced cardiac treatment facilities in the public sector. He assured that the Cardiology Department would be provided with all the necessary modern equipment and technical support so that no patient has to wait for life-saving cardiac treatment, stated a press release shared with the media on Friday. The newly inaugurated Cath Lab is equipped with state-of-the-art imaging and interventional techniques, which will significantly reduce waiting times for cardiac procedures and increase the efficiency of the Cardiology Department. Pathak also informed that the procurement process for another new Cath Lab, two Treadmill Test (TMT) machines, three advanced echocardiography machines, and one IVUS system is underway this year, which will fully equip RMLIMS with state-of-the-art facilities, it stated. He praised the STEMI programme being run at RMLIMS, stating that it is providing timely life-saving treatment to heart attack patients. Under interventional cardiology services, the department performed 4,748 coronary angiographies, 3,022 angioplasties, and 277 pacemaker implantations throughout the year. These figures demonstrate that RMLIMS is continuously strengthening its position as a leading tertiary-level cardiac care centre in the state, providing timely and state-of-the-art treatment to patients suffering from complex heart diseases, it stated further.
