Lucknow, Oct. 25 -- In a bid to control rising onion prices in the state, the Uttar Pradesh government has decided to strictly enforce the stock limit and may also procure onion from the Centre's buffer stock.

"We are keeping a watch on the situation arising from the spiralling onion prices in the state with the government having already convened a high-level meeting in this regard," commissioner, food and civil supply, Manish Chauhan said.

He said the department was gearing up to strictly enforce the stock limit with regard to onion and act against traders if they were found hoarding the onion by violating the limit. He said the Centre had also issued directions in this regard.
