Dehradun, Feb. 23 -- The BJP on Sunday sought an explanation from its Raipur MLA Umesh Sharma Kau after he was booked for the alleged assault on director of elementary education Ajay Naudiyal. This comes as the Opposition Congress launched a scathing attack on the ruling BJP over the issue. State BJP president and Rajya Sabha MP Mahendra Bhatt said the party opposes all forms of anarchy and violence. He sought an explanation from Kau, adding that raising public issues is one aspect of public life but violating the law is unacceptable. "The party has taken this incident very seriously. We will soon summon Kau to seek detailed information about the circumstances that led to the incident. The law will take its own course in the matter, and the party supports strict action against anyone found guilty," Bhatt said. Meanwhile, Uttarakhand Pradesh Congress Committee president Ganesh Godiyal said lawlessness is growing in the state, with those in power taking the law into their own hands. "This incident should be strongly condemned, and legal action should be taken against the MLA and his supporters," he said. Congress leader Garima Mehra Dasauni called Saturday's incident a direct attack on the administrative system. "The incident not only undermines the dignity of a senior administrative officer but also undermines the morale of the entire government and administration. When public representatives themselves take the law into their own hands and engage in such violent actions, how can the public be expected to follow the law?" she said. "The law and order in the state has completely collapsed under the leadership of the BJP. If ruling party MLAs enter government offices and resort to violence, it clearly indicates that criminals enjoy the protection of the government," she added....
