SP workers protest against LPG price hike, demand rollback
GORAKHPUR, March 8 -- Hundreds of Samajwadi Party (SP) workers on Friday staged a protest on the Deoria-Barhaj road in Deoria against the recent hike in LPG cylinder prices. The protesters slammed the government for increasing financial burden on common people and demanded an immediate rollback of the price hike.
Former MLA Swami Nath Yadav, while addressing the protesters, alleged that the government's policies have pushed inflation to record levels, making it difficult for ordinary citizens to manage their household expenses.
He said, "The prices of LPG cylinders and other essential commodities are continuously increasing. This has placed a heavy burden on common people. The government should immediately roll back the hike."
Leading the protest, party leaders Vijay Rawat and other SP workers gathered in the city carrying domestic LPG cylinders and raised slogans against the BJP-led governments at the Centre and in the state. The party workers staged the demonstration with cylinders to symbolically highlight the issue and demanded that the government provide relief to consumers by reducing LPG prices.
