LUCKNOW, Feb. 21 -- Samajwadi Party president Akhilesh Yadav on Friday hit out at the state government, alleging that Shankaracharya Avimukteshwaranand was insulted and no one was able to ensure justice. Speaking to the media persons during a visit to Fatehpur district, Akhilesh said, "Traditionally, no one has levelled allegations against Shankaracharya ji or stopped him from performing religious activities. But he was insulted and prevented from taking a holy dip in the Ganga. "Those who themselves lack a certificate are demanding one from the revered Shankaracharya. Everyone saw the chief minister's language in the assembly." He further said that even the two deputy chief ministers were able to protect Shankaracharya's honour.
